This museum is dedicated to the entire history of the Aquitaine region, but its collection of prehistoric art definitely makes it worth a visit. You can find artifacts from Pair-non-pair and Cap Blanc, a replica of the swimming deer panel from Lascaux, and the Venus of Laussel, a bas-relief carving of a woman holding a horn that is about 25,000 years old. Click here to see pictures of some of the artifacts on display.
There is no English information on the exhibits on the ground floor, but there are English translations on the upper floor, which focuses on the 16th century to the present.
Closed Mondays and bank holidays.
